Our experienced team brings decades of skill in welding, fabrication, design, and installation — and now, we’re excited to be expanding into high-quality powder coating services. This transition allows us to offer durable, beautifully finished metalwork while continuing to honor the craftsmanship that built our reputation.
As a minority-owned business, we’re proud that over half of our team members are Detroit residents, reflecting the community we serve.
Founded in 1974 by Colombian native Misael “Tony” Martinez in a small garage in Southwest Detroit, Artistic Diseños grew under Mr. Martinez’s leadership into a trusted name in custom ironwork. In 2022, the company passed to longtime employee Javier Lugo — an immigrant from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, who began working at Diseños at age 13. Despite forgoing formal education to help support his family, Mr. Lugo became Mr. Martinez’s right-hand man, known for his dedication, punctuality, and integrity.
After launching his own successful business, Artistic Iron Works, in 2009, Mr. Lugo returned to acquire Artistic Diseños in 2022. Honoring both legacies, he merged the two companies under the name Artistic Diseños, preserving their rich history while forging a new future focused on craftsmanship and innovation.
While we continue to offer custom ornamental ironwork, we are gradually transitioning into powder coating — blending our design expertise with a finish that offers long-lasting protection, bold color, and modern style.
