Artistic Diseños is dedicated to crafting the finest custom ironwork for our diverse clientele, encompassing both commercial and residential projects.

Our seasoned team brings a combined experience of 50 years in welding, iron fabrication, design, and installation. As a minority-owned business, we take pride in the fact that over half of our team members are minority and Detroit residents.

Established in 1974 by Colombian native Misael Martinez, affectionately known as "Tony," Artistic Diseños originated in a small garage in Southwest Detroit. Over the years, the business flourished under Mr. Martinez's leadership. In 2022, the company underwent a transition of ownership, with Javier Lugo at the helm. A former employee of Diseños with a three-decade commitment to the company, Mr. Lugo, an immigrant from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, arrived in the USA at the age of 13. Forgoing formal education to support his family, he found employment at Diseños, where he forged a strong bond with Mr. Martinez.

Under Mr. Martinez's mentorship, Mr. Lugo's punctuality and reliability earned him the position of Mr. Martinez's right-hand man. In 2009, Mr. Lugo ventured out to establish his own company, "Artistic Iron Works," achieving significant success. In 2022, when the opportunity arose to acquire Diseños, Mr. Lugo seized it without hesitation. However, considering the meaningful history associated with both "Diseños" and "Artistic Iron Works," Mr. Lugo opted to merge the two and renamed the business Artistic Diseños.

Beyond his exceptional talent, Mr. Lugo harbors a deep love and passion for crafting ornamental ironwork. He looks forward to continuing the legacy of creating beautiful and enduring pieces for many years to come.
